Advanced Search - EU Materials
JustCite indexes EU materials from 1951, covering everything from CELEX, the official legal database of the European Union.
It is important to understand that in JustCite you will do most of your searching via the main Search box. However, the Advanced Search is useful for handling certain specific search problems which the main search box does not handle well, such as finding certain types of EU documents on a given subject area.
Search operators are fully supported in the Advanced Search. However, the predictive search and the ability to deal with variations in spelling are restricted to the main Search box and are not available in Advanced Search.
Available Fields
- Title – Searches over the title of EU documents, which could be the name of a case, the title of a piece legislation or the title of an EFTA document, for instance.
Because EU legislative documents tend to have long, descriptive names, you can also use this field as a subject search.
- Reference – If you know the official CELEX number of the document you require you can enter it here; for example, 31993L0104. This field also supports searching by common names, such as distance selling directive or framework directive.
The EU reference field supports partial CELEX numbers with wildcard operators. Advanced users who are familiar with CELEX numbers can therefore combine the Reference and Title fields to find Oral Parliamentary Questions on Alternative Investment Funds, for example.
- Journal Reference – Searches Official Journal publication references, such as OFFICIAL JOURNAL NO. C 175 10/07/95 p 0016.
