Deleting cookies in Internet Explorer 7 (Windows Vista)

When Internet Explorer 7 is used with Vista, there seem to be 2 different ways in which it stores cookies, so you need to try 2 ways to find and delete them. First, try the procedure for deleting cookies with Windows XP. If that does not locate the JustCite cookies, then please try the following procedure:

When used with Windows Vista, the Internet Explorer 7 browser may not allow you to see the cookies for JustCite using its built-in cookie management, and so you have to use a much lengthier process to see and delete them. Make sure that you are not signed in to JustCite before you start this procedure.

The cookies for JustCite are stored in a folder that is not normally visible, and so the first stage is to make the folder visible. This will also make many other files and folders visible, including some on your desktop.

1. Click the multicoloured “Start” button at the bottom left of your screen.
2. Click “Control Panel”.
3. In the Control Panel, select “Folder Options”.

4. Click the “View” tab.
5. Under Hidden files and folders, select “Show hidden files and folders”.
6. Click “OK” to close the Folder Options dialog box.
7. Close the Control Panel.

Now that the folder is visible, the next stage is to navigate to that folder.

8. Click the multicoloured “Start” button at the bottom left of your screen.
9. Click “Computer”.
10. Select the hard disk drive that contains Windows (normally C:)
11. Navigate to C:\Users\xxxxxx\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low, where “xxxxxx” is your user name for Windows.

12. Click “Name” to sort the files.
13. Scroll down until you find the files that start with your Windows user name.
14. Find and delete the files (cookies) for “justcite” and for “www.justcite”.
15. Close the Windows Explorer window.

The final stage is to make the special folders and files invisible again.

16. Click the multicoloured “Start” button at the bottom left of your screen.
17. Click “Control Panel”.
18. In the Control Panel, select “Folder Options”.
19. Click the “View” tab.
20. Under Hidden files and folders, select “Do not show hidden files and folders”.
21. Click “OK” to close the Folder Options dialog box.
22. Close the Control Panel.

If you sign in via Athens, then you should also check for cookies that include “athensams.net”, and delete any that you find.

After deleting all of the www.justcite.com (and Athens) cookies, you should be able to sign in and use JustCite as usual.

Deleting cookies in Internet Explorer 7 (Windows XP)

The Internet Explorer 7 browser allows you to locate and delete cookies from a particular website. Make sure that you are not signed in to JustCite before you start this procedure.

1. On the Tools menu, select “Internet Options”
2. In the Internet Options dialog box, click the “General” tab.
3. In the Browsing history section, click the “Settings” button (NOT the Delete… button, which is for deleting all cookies).
4. In the Temporary Internet Files and History Settings dialog box, click the “View Files” button

5. In the Windows Explorer window, click “Name” to sort the files by name

6. Scroll down until you find the files that start with “cookie”
7. Find and delete the cookie for “www.justcite.com”. (You need to click in the Name column to select a cookie before you can delete it.)
8. Close the Windows Explorer window.
9. Click “OK” to close the Temporary Internet Files and History Settings dialog box.
10. Click “OK” to close the Internet Options dialog box.

If you sign in via Athens, then you should also check for cookies that include “athensams.net”, and delete any that you find.

After deleting all of the www.justcite.com (and Athens) cookies, you should be able to sign in and use JustCite as usual.

Deleting cookies in Internet Explorer 6

The Internet Explorer 6 browser allows you to locate and delete cookies from a particular website. Make sure that you are not signed in to JustCite before you start this procedure.

1. On the Tools menu, select “Internet Options…”
2. In the Internet Options dialog box, click the “General” tab.
3. In the Temporary Internet files section, click the “Settings…” button (NOT the Delete Cookies… button, which deletes all cookies).
4. In the Settings dialog box, click the “View Files…” button

5. In the Windows Explorer window, click “Name” to sort the files by name

6. Scroll down until you find the files that start with “Cookie”
7. Find and delete the cookie for “www.justcite.com”. (You need to click in the Name column to select a cookie before you can delete it.)
8. Close the Windows Explorer window.
9. Click “OK” to close the Settings dialog box.
10. Click “OK” to close the Internet Options dialog box.

If you sign in via Athens, then you should also check for cookies that include “athensams.net”, and delete any that you find.

After deleting all of the www.justcite.com (and Athens) cookies, you should be able to sign in and use JustCite as usual.

Deleting cookies in Firefox

The Firefox browser includes a cookie manager that allows you to locate and delete cookies from a particular website. Make sure that you are not signed in to JustCite before you start this procedure.

1. On the Tools menu, select “Options…”
2. In the Options dialog box, click the “Privacy” icon (a padlock).
3. In the Cookies section, click the “Show Cookies” button.

4. In the Cookies dialog box, click “Site” to sort the list of cookies by the name of their website.

5. Scroll down until you find the cookies for justcite.com.
6. Delete all of the cookies for justcite.com, using the “Remove Cookies” button.
7. Click “Close” to close the Cookies dialog box.
8. Click “OK” to close the Options dialog box.

If you sign in via Athens, then you should also check for cookies for athensams.net, and delete any that you find.

After deleting all of the justcite.com (and Athens) cookies, you should be able to sign in and use JustCite as usual.

In the Mac OS X version of Firefox, you need to select Preferences… on the Firefox menu, not Options… on the Tools menu.

Deleting cookies in SeaMonkey

This browser includes a cookie manager that allows you to locate and delete cookies from a particular website. Make sure that you are not signed in to JustCite before you start this procedure.

1. On the Edit menu, select “Preferences…”
2. In the list of categories in the Preferences dialog box, click the triangle next to “Privacy & Security”
3. In the list of terms that appears, select “Cookies”.
4. Click the “Cookie Manager” button.
5. In the Cookie Manager dialog box, click the “Stored Cookies” tab.

6. Click “Site” to sort the list of cookies by the name of their website.
7. Scroll down until you find the cookies for www.justcite.com.
8. Delete all of the cookies for www.justcite.com, using the “Remove Cookie” button.
9. Click “Close” to close the Cookie Manager dialog box.
10. Click “OK” to close the Preferences dialog box.

If you sign in via Athens, then you should also check for cookies for athensams.net, and delete any that you find.

After deleting all of the www.justcite.com (and Athens) cookies, you should be able to sign in and use JustCite as usual.
