JustCite FAQs – Configuring pop-up blockers
| Q – | What are pop-ups? |
| A – | Pop-ups are new browser windows that open when you visit a page, click a link or leave a page. Some websites use automatic pop-ups in ways that many people find annoying, and they are such a nuisance that many people now use special pop-up-blocking utilities. Some web browsers, firewalls and other security software also have an option to block them. |
| Q – | Does JustCite use pop-ups? |
| A – | JustCite itself uses pop-ups only for the on-screen Help. However, JustCite includes many links to the full text of documents (including Justis), and these documents can be displayed in a separate window that is technically a pop-up. These are classed as requested pop-ups, because they only appear if you click a link. |
| Q – | Should I block pop-ups? |
| A – | To cope with rogue websites, you should use a pop-up blocker. If your blocking software is set to block all pop-ups, then you may not be able to display full-text documents or view the on-screen Help. In order to view these documents, you must allow pop-ups from JustCite. Some programs allows you to specify sites from which pop-ups are allowed, while others have global settings. JustCite Guides – Configuring pop-up blockers
Google Toolbar
One of the most popular pop-up blockers is the Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer. Fortunately, it is easy to tell the Google Toolbar to stop blocking specific websites such as JustCite and Justis. Just go to any page on the JustCite website and on the Justis website, and click the pop-up blocking button in the Toolbar.

From now on, you will be able to use JustCite and Justis as normal.
Windows Live Toolbar
The Windows Live toolbar (which has replaced the MSN Toolbar) for Internet Explorer includes a pop-up blocker. By default it blocks all pop-ups, and therefore blocks full-text documents in separate windows. Just go to any page on the JustCite website and on the Justis website, and on each site click the black down arrow on the pop-up blocker and click “Allow Pop-ups for This Site” on the menu.

From now on, you will be able to use JustCite and Justis as normal.
Yahoo! Toolbar
The pop-up blocker in the Yahoo! toolbar for Internet Explorer by default blocks all pop-ups, and therefore blocks full-text documents in separate windows. Make sure that the blocker is enabled, and then allow it to block a pop-up from Justis. The toolbar keeps a list of sites from which it has blocked pop-ups, and then allows you to choose from which of these sites you want to allow pop-ups.

In the list of recently-blocked pop-ups, click “www.justis.com”, and then click “Allow”. This will add www.justis.com to the list of allowed sources of pop-ups.

From now on, you will be able to use JustCite and Justis as normal.

Firewalls and other pop-up blockers
For other pop-up blockers, we recommend either (i) setting an option that blocks only unrequested pop-ups, or (ii) setting an option that blocks all pop-ups but allows for some websites to be specified as exceptions, and including www.justcite.com and www.justis.com in your list of permitted exceptions.
The Help for your blocking software should tell you how to do this.
If the firewall or security software covers a network, not just your own computer, then you should consult your Network Administrator.
