Irish Reports back to 1901 fully indexed on JustCite

6th August 2012

Long-established on the Justis online legal library, the Irish Reports are now fully indexed on the JustCite citator back to 1901.

To achieve this, we undertook a huge in-house editorial project, which brings to all JustCite users numerous benefits, including:

  • The addition of three subject terms to each case from the Irish Reports, saving users time in identifying whether a case should be investigated further
  • Details of the full Irish Reports citation and the court in which the case was heard, removing any doubt as to the identification of the case
  • Cross-links to cases mentioned in the judgment, including the relationship each of those cases has with the case in question, helping users determine whether the case is still “good law”
  • Details, where applicable, of whether higher courts have affirmed or reversed decisions of lower courts

JustCite has built up a good following in Ireland, where practitioners enjoy access to decision-aiding information from material across the common law world (see last week’s story in the Irish Times). But the completion of this project marks an important new milestone in the delivery of information on Irish material itself, which is now improved immeasurably.
